Decolonial Meridians: Art and Thought from the Global South

Decolonial Meridians: Art and Thought from the Global South will steer research conversations and gatherings that explore artistic practices, cultural/political/historical thought, and histories from the Global South in relation – to develop in dialogue:

  • What questions of artistic practices, cultural and political theorizations, and historical thought/writing look like from the Global South, &
  • How such questions can be connected across resonant as well as widely divergent contexts within the Global South – as well as – with the Global North

Some keywords we capture as a research group (not exhaustive):

  • Artistic modernities
  • Radical aesthetics
  • Freedoms/liberation/emancipation
  • Solidarities
  • Indigeneity
  • Postcolonial and decolonial thought and methods

We meet monthly in reading groups, film screenings, roundtables/panels, or writing feedback groups, or in other happy constellation! We welcome students, researchers and colleagues to join us!
